About
Introducing Go Fresh Mongolian BBQ, a hidden gem located in the heart of Pasadena, California, at 1445 E Colorado Blvd. This family-run establishment serves up a unique dining experience that beautifully marries tradition with hands-on creativity, allowing you to craft your own Mongolian BBQ meal exactly how you like it.
At Go Fresh Mongolian BBQ, the spotlight is on your custom bowl. Choose from a delightful array of proteins, including various meats, tofu, and an abundance of fresh vegetables, all served with Chinese yellow noodles or steamed rice. Their traditional Mongol Grill Bowl comes in at $13.50 for meat selections and $12.50 for a hearty vegetarian option. David X.'s review captures the essence of their service: "You pick your protein or go vegan and then pick your toppings and sauce." The process is not just about the food; it’s an interactive dining experience where you can stack your bowl high, watching as it is grilled to perfection.
While the ambiance may lean towards the rustic side, with some patrons noting a "dive-y" atmosphere, it adds to the charm of Go Fresh. The owners, an elderly couple, have garnered a loyal following for their hard work and friendly demeanor. As Kim J. expresses, "Yes, it’s not the most tidy place, but for a veg BBQ, I’m paying $11 for a heaping amount of noodles." The warmth of their service creates a welcoming environment that keeps customers returning.
Furthermore, Go Fresh also offers a selection of refreshing smoothies at just $5.50 each, from mango to passion fruit—a perfect way to complement your meal on a warm day.
In conclusion, Go Fresh Mongolian BBQ is not just a place to eat; it’s an experience steeped in flavor and community spirit. Whether you're crafting your own bowl or enjoying one of their side dishes, you're sure to find satisfaction at a price that doesn't break the bank. So, why not give it a try? You might just discover your new favorite comfort food.
“ Cheap quick bite. You pick your protein or go vegan and then pick your toppings and sauce. You are encouraged to stack what you can as in the photos but I add a dollar tip if I drop some (cuz I'm not an ass). Then they take it to the grill and cook it for ya. If the place is busy you get a decent show. I prefer takeout since I'm not sure if it's the lighting or what but its a bit dingy. Still, lots of bang for your buck ”
“ I've gotten this about 4-5 times since Fall 2024 started and at first I was a bit thrown off with the cleanliness of the store. The times I've visited, it's only an elderly couple running it, but they're really nice. Nonetheless, the food is good and the prices are also not bad (I believe it's to help us college students get a decent meal for an affordable price) One of the few Mongolian bbq places that has good flavor because their grill is well seasoned and the sauces offered are also really good. I paid $13.17 for a really big portion of food that I was able to fit in their bowl. ”
“ When I was a student at PCC I would come here often. You can a very large serving of food for low price. It Still hits and the price is right. Not a very fancy place and there may be a few objectionable items but the MBBQ here is very satisfying and I have no problem continuing to come. I absolutely gaped this plate. Went home, took a nap and woke up happy. ”
“ So I'm very protective of this family run place since I've been coming here for more than 10 years. I went to PCC for some classes as a refresher (I'm 50 years old), and I loved Mongolian BBQ from my young days at Rutgers when it was starting to be a thing. The problem with most MBBQ's is that you don't taste the breath of the wok from the circular grill top because most people (like at the Arcadia mall's Genghis) don't know how to slightly char the noodles properly and you get a soggy mess that's really watery. Also, most places don't include celery and tomato as ingredients (which are what I like). I love the "house sauce" and mushroom sauces here. Weirdly, I don't go there for the meat. I do it vegetarian because I love the variety of fresh vegetables, the garlic and the sauces. I find this meal to be my comfort food when I'm trying to eat more cleanly. Yes, it's not the most tidy place but c'mon, for a veg bbq, I'm paying $11 for a heaping amount of noodles. They are located across from a community college and keep their prices low so that students can afford a healthy meal. There are no bugs and the owners are just the husband and wife. I never see anyone else working there so give them a break. If they are running low on stuff, all you have to do is ask them to restock; it's not a big deal. I'm Asian and I consider them my surrogate parents at times. I give them fruit from my own garden and when I noticed how hot it was inside there during summer, I got them a really sturdy fan. Commenters, stop expecting this place to be some lofty thing that it isn't. Many other places serve traditional Chinese food so if you don't like other things on the menu, go somewhere else. This is about the Mongolian bbq. They are making food affordable for the community college crowd so stop being a snob. If you don't like it, I challenge you to find a Mongolian bbq that is better and then just go there instead. ”
“ The excellent rating is for the food, which really is tasty, and the service from the Asian couple who owns and runs the business. They are polite, helpful, and very hard working. This is a strip mall restaurant that is as dive-y as it can get. You have to overlook the general messiness of the place and remember it's the food that counts. There is a "Help Wanted" sign up so, perhaps one day, they can get someone in to help clean and maintain the food serving areas. In the meantime, if the counters are too intimidating for you, I would just order online and have them assemble your meal. This is one of the tastiest Mongolian BBQs in the area. Even if you do your own saucing, if your ingredients need additional moisture, they will add seasoned liquid during cooking. Other places use plain water which will dilute the added sauces. This is a nice touch and makes a big difference. There is also an online ordering feature available as well as delivery. The only downside is there is a limit as for the number of vegetables that can be selected so you will have to go in person if you want more than five veggies. ”
